Redefining Moments

Dear Readers and Fans,

When reading another author friend of mine’s blog post this morning it got me to thinking. It is a third of the way into the new year. I just published the last in my Birthday Camping Club trilogy in December. I have had some obstacles to overcome the beginning of this year, and I am finally seeing my way around them. My friend’s blog post this morning was about beginning again or starting over, its over here if you want to read it, Beginning Again. I am having to do some of that now. I look forward to this eagerly.

I have not been taking my writing seriously. Reading my friend’s post this morning made me I had to change how I was looking at this “hobby”. It is not a hobby it is something that I can truly make money doing, I can write my stories and my books and can enjoy telling them, hopefully as much as my readers enjoy reading them.

As I am writing this post I am reminded of how much I enjoy reading. All the various stories I read and enjoy. I think of all the authors I know personally and realize that we all enjoy telling and sharing our stories, which is why we write. This post, or maybe my friend’s post, is a defining moment for me. It made me reconsider how I view my writing.

You see until now, my writing has been a hobby. It is something I have been doing in my spare time for fun. I haven’t taken it seriously. I haven’t considered that I can really make a career out of it. Now though, I can see the expanse before me. I can see so many characters with stories to tell, and so many plots to uncover. I am now eager to approach this career seriously and write.

I know a lot of you are probably now thinking, oh she just wants to make money, so her prices are going to go up and she is going to start putting out stuff that is not any good. Hopefully, you my fans, will tell if anything is ever not any good. Please do not spare my feelings. Writing is a craft that is always improving and hopefully the crafters are always becoming better. I value honesty above everything else, please.

I am sitting here looking through my works in progress (WIPs). I have so many! I know the one I need to finish for everyone, is the Erebus Connection. It is coming. That will be the next one out. And Guess what? I will do my very best to get out before the end of May. May is significant, for personal reasons, however if I remember correctly, I do believe it has professional significance also. Look for updates of Erebus Connection regularly.

I have some other stories on hold, some romance ones, as well as some more along the mystery theme, possibly, and horror themes. I am not sure which I will work on, I guess it will depend on how long it will take me to write them, edit them, and publish them. Also, I will need to find or design my covers. I will get a good timeline I am thinking the next one, after Erebus Connection, will be sometime in the Fall, maybe a horror for Halloween, and a sweet romance for Christmas, and maybe a mystery for New Year’s.  

I have set my sights on taking this seriously, so I hope you my readers will hold me to this. I look forward to hearing from you all, always. Any comments or questions please get ahold of me. I always enjoy hearing from my readers, hopefully fans.
